Achievements: Christopher Pike Medal of Valor, 2374
After Academy, posted to U.S.S. Livingston, served with Curzon Dax (see Dax, Jadzia). Later served aboard U.S.S. Okinawa under Captain Leyton. Originally interested in engineering, switched to command track when Leyton promoted him to Lieutenant Commander, making him Okinawa's first officer. Fought in Tzenkethi war .
Served on U.S.S. Saratoga as executive officer at time of Battle of Wolf 359 in 2367. After destruction of Saratoga in that battle, Sisko assigned to Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards on Mars. Projects included U.S.S Defiant prototype and Earth orbital habitats.
Promoted to Commander in 2369 and given command of station Deep Space Nine. Discovered stability of Denorios Belt Wormhole and spearheaded exploration of Gamma Quadrant beyond. Contacted alien wormhole inhabitants, known to Bajorans as their religion's Prophets. Bajorans regard Sisko as their Emissary to the Prophets, a diplomatic and cultural role Sisko accepts willingly but with reservations. Under Sisko, first contact was made with hostile Dominion in Gamma Quadrant. In 2373, Sisko accidentally received a plasma charge that, according to him, gave him prophetic visions. These led him to use his role as Emissary to persuade Bajor's government to cease their bid to join the Federation.
In 2370, Sisko rescued Cardassian Gul Dukat from abduction by Maquis rebels to preserve then-peace between Federation and Cardassian Union. In 2371, Sisko learned his Starfleet Security Chief Michael Eddington was a Maquis operative. Though he escaped from DS9, Sisko apprehended him in 2373.
In 2371, Sisko promoted to Captain on stardate 48959.1; began intermittent command of U.S.S. Defiant, assigned to patrol of the wormhole and its environs. On stardate 47212.4, Sisko led Defiant on a search for the Dominion's Founders; ship was captured by the Dominion's Jem'Hadar forces and crew subjected to mental experiments to determine Federation's response to possible invasion of Alpha Quadrant. In 2372, when Klingons declared war on the Cardassians and attacked Federation outposts, Sisko defended DS9 from heavy Klingon fire. Later that year, Sisko temporarily appointed head of Starfleet Security on Earth to assess threat of covert Dominion infiltration of Starfleet. He was instrumental in preventing attempted military coup led by Chief of Starfleet Operations Admiral Leyton.
In 2374, Sisko commanded Federation forces to retake DS9 after its capture by Dominon-Cardassian alliance during its invasion of the Alpha Quadrant. Sisko served with distinction during protracted fighting between Federation and Dominion/Cardassian forces. Later that year, Sisko was instrumental in staging covert events to bring Romulans into an alliance with Federation against the Dominion/Cardassian threat. Assigned to lead task force of combined Federation, Klingon, and Romulan forces for assault on Cardassian territory, late 2374.
